The Greek Myth of Hercules

This year I have learned a great deal of things, especially in ancient history and one of my favorite things was the Greeks. I liked the Greeks because they had quite a few fascinating myths such as the Oddessy or Pandora's box, and I enjoyed the myths probably even more than the real history.
One of my favorite Greek myths was the story of Hercules, if you have not heard it, it is about Hercules of course. Hercules was the son of the chief god Zeus and he was half man and half god but he was hated by Hera the wife of Zeus because she did not like that Zeus had married a mortal woman. The problem with Hercules was that he had a bad temper that got him into a lot of trouble, so he went to consult the Oracle of Delphi and it told him to visit King Eurystheus. So Hercules worked for king Eurystheus for ten years and did the twelve labors of Hercules. “1. Slay the Nemean Lion. 2. Slay the nine headed Hydra. 3. Capture the Golden Hind of Artemis. 4. Capture the Erymanthian Boar. 5. Clean the Augean stables in a single day. 6. Slay the Stymphalian Birds. 7. Capture the Cretan Bull. 8. Steal the Mares of Diomedes. 9. Obtain the Hippolyta Queen of the Amazons. 10. Obtain the cattle of the monster Geryon. 11. Steal the Hesperides. 12. Capture and bring back Cerberus”(1). After Hercules had done these thing he became a complete god and got to live on Mount Olympus with the other gods. Although the story of Hercules is just a myth there are still things that you can learn from it like how if you have self control it will help keep you out of trouble.
I hope that the things I have learned in history over this entire year will serve me well in the future because those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.
